This is funny to me, because writing humor was what I wanted to do when I got started back in 1980! It just took me a while to figure out the best way to do it. I am a member of SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators). Today I live in New York City with my wife Nina.

One day when Dan was mad because publishers kept rejecting his books, his young daughter Emma inspired the My Weird School series. He started typing right away. Sam, his oldest son, inspired his whole career as a Children's book author. Dan Gutman's goal as an author is to inspire kids that don't love reading.
