Rats absolutely love social interaction and they can make great pets for both adults and children. They get very depressed if they are left without attention. Rats need more cage space than mice, hamsters or gerbils and they also like to have a few levels so you'll need to make sure there's enough room.

How can I buy a gerbil?

Pet shops are the most common way to buy a gerbil. Make sure to research the pet shop before buying gerbils from there. You can do this online before buying from them. Read any reviews to see if the pet store sells quality gerbils.
What is the best small pet for a child?
Small birds, reptiles, turtles, rodents or guinea pigs make great pets for these kids. You can give them the responsibility of food and water for their animals, but make sure you supervise them to ensure that they are not overfeeding their pet, but also to check that they are actually doing it.
How much does a guinea pig cost?
